DIGIBC
Did you know that British Columbia is home to some of the world’s most well-known video game, animation and visual effects companies employing thousands of people with all types of different skill-sets and talents? DigiBC is the Interactive and Digital Media Industry Association of British Columbia. Our membership is comprised of companies from the video game/interactive, animation, visual effects, and VR/MR/AR sectors, along with technology enablers and service providers who work alongside our members to help grow the creative technology economy in the province. We seek to achieve our goals through advocacy & policy engagement, growth programs, talent programs, events, and member benefit initiatives. Last year, in conjunction with music educators, CreativeBC and the BC government, DigiBC launched a program called DigiMusic through which students, teachers and parents were provided with a taste of what it’s like to combine creativity and technology, as we challenged students to compose music for one or more short clips of video games and animated movies that are being created right here in BC. We created a range of support materials and activities for classroom use, compatible with the BC high school music curriculum. Winning students received music equipment for their school music rooms, as well as a tour of Electronic Arts in Burnaby. The clips and materials, along with coverage of DigiMusic 2019, are available on our website. https://www.digibc.org/cpages/digimusic |
